- so where does france fit in with this hypothetic question?
- i am from lebonan and you are wrong, we have the healthies food in the world the usa finaly regonizos it, on the news last week they said the best sours of protien come from HUMUS AND BABA GANUGE,ALSO OLIVE OILIVE oil we never use buter or veg oil, all we eat is mostly vegs like TABPULEH its salad with cracked wheat, and that is our rice the eat and our home madr bread has no fat, the only meat we use for stuffed grape leave squash is lamp, and white brested chiken, i do not know what area your talking about but the mid east has the best falafel sandwish...it all veg
- France is the Mediterranean nation that eats the MOST saturates out of diet that is ALREADY rich in saturates and France has the LOWEST RATE OF CORONARY HEART DISEASE IN THE WEST . AND THEY ARE NOT THE ONLY :PARADOX" THEY ARE NOT A PARADOX AT ALL INUIT PARADOX CRETE PARADOX MASAI PARADOX DINKA PARADOX SAMBURU PARADOX TOKELUAN PARADOX OKINAWAN PARADOX Red Meat is the MOST NUTRIENT DENSE FOOD KNOWN TO MANKIND THIS IS A FACT. THAT IS NOT POLITICALLY CORRECT TO SAY BUT IT IS A FACT. Why would anyone NOT recommemnd eating the MOST NUTRIENT DENSE FOOD LKKNOWN TO MANKIND??? WHOLE GARINS touted as healthy are NUTRITIONAL WEAKLINGS. WHOLE GRAINS HAVE MORE NUTRIENT ABSORPTION IMPAIRMENT PROPERTIES THAN EVEN REFINED GRAINS. THRERE IS NOT A SINGLE VITAMIN TRACE ELEMENT OR MINERAL THAT CAN NOT BE SUPPLIED BY AN ANIMAL OR PLANT FOOD P.S. ALL THE CLAIMS FOR OLIVE OIL ARE NOT BAcked up in ANY CLINCIAL TRIAL EXCEPT ONE THAT DID NOT PRODUCE A FAVORABLE RESULT THE SMALL PERCENTAGE OF VARIOUS FATS FOUND IN AN ATHEROSCLEROTIC PLAQUE ARE GUESS WHAT PEOPLE???? READY? 80 PERCENT UNsaturated that right! Saturated fat makes up ONLY 20 PERCENT OF THE FATS
- Where did you read that the people of Crete get 70% of their calories from lamb sausage and goat cheese? I live in Crete, so I know first hand that this is not true, because: a. "lamb sausage" does not exist in Crete. We eat lamb or goat meat but 1-2 times per week. b. The most popular type of cheese consumed in Crete is feta cheese, which is an ingredient of the choriatiki or Greek salad. c. Most of the calories comes from olive oil, which has been proved to be beneficial for the heart and the arteries. The diet of the people of Crete has been proved to be one of the most healthy one and you can read about it here:
- LAMB , SAUSAGE AND GOAT CHEESE NOT " LAMB SAUSAGE" THE RESIDENTS OF CRETE EAT A DIET IN RICH IN SATURATED FATS AS DOES THE WHOLE MEDITERRANEAN ESPECIALLY THE FRENCH WHO HAVE THE LOWEST RATE OF CHD IN THE WHOLE MEDITERRANEAN AND THE WHOLE WEST AND THE AREA OF FRANCE THAT CONSUMES THE MOST SATURATES FROM GOOSE LIVER HAVE THE LOWEST RATE ON FRANCE! READ THOROUGHLY http://www.westonaprice.org/traditional_diets/meddiet.html
- Did you take your medication today? Doesn't look like it.
- The so-called mediterranean diet is the traditional mediterranean diet, not the fast food or super market diet we have now in the mediterranean. And being from Greece, I can tell you that: 1. Half the days of the year is traditionally fasting for us, which means NO FAT AT ALL (and no meat or cheese or milk). 2. Meat (chicken mostly) was something traditionally eaten once a week, and red meat once a month, because they didn't have so many animals to slaughter. Sausages etc. were made once a year, and one pork had to last a big family for the entire year, so you can imagine they didn't eat much of that. 3. Mostly they would eat beans, tomatos, fruit, bread, feta cheese and uncooked olive oil in the salad. And fish wherever there was sea nearby. 4. Plus, the quantities were small, plus they exercised, because they worked all day and walked to the fields, no cars etc. So try that and you'll see that in Crete they don't get their 70% from saturated fat.
- The Mediterranean Diet: FACT vs FICTION Anyone even remotely faimiliar with Italian , Greek or French cuisune KNOWS IT IS ANYTHING BUT LEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Greece Italy Portugal Spain and France In all of the aforementioned Southern European Countries the consumption of animal fat rose significantly between 1961-2000. Total fat intake also rose substantially during yhis period, contradicting popular depictions of the Mediterranean being some sort of low- fat nirvana. The increase in both total and animal fat consumption has been acxcompanied by an increase in CHD mortality in Spain and Portugal, BUT A REDUCTION OF SUCH DEATHS IN FRANCE, ITALY AND PORTUGAL. The notion that a low saturated - fat diet contributes to the lkow rate of heart disease seen amoungst inhabitants of Southern Europe appears to be NOTHING MORE THAN WISHFUL THINKING
