I have dandruff and its worse during the summer, why is that?
the norm is to get it during the winter, I'm the opposite. I get it every summer, although lately I've been under alot of stress, which also causes it. Is it normal to have this during the summer? I figure its due to the oils produced during the winter that help my scalp keep moisturized. I maintain a mediterranean diet and have plenty of olive oil. I've also had oily skin my whole life. And still every summer I end up with grotesque dandruff, it sometimes gets really bad and I scratch till I bleed, which I know is bad. I read somewhere to try olive oil with honey and to leave it on the scalp for a while. I've also been using FINESE, or however you spell it, a shampoo I've used since I was younger. I know it doesn't have SLS in it but I wonder about its other ingredients. Also, I used to dye my hair and that would always get rid of my dandruff for a while, does that mean its bacterial? I always figured it killed off whatever it was. I'm thinking about using vinegar.

- Go to the dermatologist, it could be yeast also. Lots of things could be causing it. Have you tried actual dandruff shampoos like Neutrogena T-Gel? It stinks but it works. And make sure you scrub your scalp when you shampoo. How about some of those drops you put on your scalp for itch? I never tried them, but it might work.
- go to the doctors they shud be able to prescribe u something this sounds like a sever case to me. scratching till u bleed cannot be normal
- the coloring your hair might have colored the dandruff so you didnt see it. try doing an oil treatment. you can buy them at a beuty supply store and you can do them as often as needed. i wouldnt overdue it though. or try finding a salon that does scalp treatments. i dont think all salons do those so you may have to look on yellow pages or something.
- actually, the scalp tends to be more dry in the winter. your scalp and hair react to the weather. if its cold, its more dry. if its hot and humid, it may be more oily. stress does not create dandruff. not washing out the shampoo/conditioner completely can. the weather can. stress does not. it sounds like you should try a medicated dandruff shampoo. maybe selsun blue? DO NOT USE VINEGAR! it is very bad for your head and your scalp and will not get rid of your dandruff. check out the link below for more information about dandruff and how you can treat it. good luck. don't worry though, its very treatable and it will be okay.
